Kanye West once again tried to make amends for his Taylor Swift faux pas at last year’s MTV VMA Awards by taking to the Nokia Theatre stage a year later, acknowledging his “douche bag” status with a new song written about the incident.
Closing the 2010 VMAs, the rapper walked onto the stage and performed his new song “Runaway,” with the self-mocking lyrics “I’m so gifted at finding at what I don’t like the most/ So I think that it’s time for us to have a toast/ Let’s have a toast for the douche bags/ Let’s have a toast for the a–holes/ Let’s have a toast for the scumbags/ Every one of them that I know.”
Earlier in the evening, Swift offered an olive branch to West, with the song “Innocent.” (See video)
Kanye recently took to Twitter to passionately apologize to Swift for storming the stage and cutting off the country star’s acceptance speech for best female video at last year’s VMAs.
