Sawyer Sweeten, a child actor best known for having portrayed Geoffrey Barone on Everybody Loves Raymond from 1996-2005, was found dead yesterday at his family’s home in Texas.
He was 19 years old.
According to Radar Online sources, Sweeten shot himself on the front porch of his family’s residence.
"This morning a terrible family tragedy has occurred," the family said in a statement last night.
"We are devastated to report that our beloved brother, son, and friend, Sawyer Sweeten, took his own life. He was weeks away from his 20th birthday.
"At this sensitive time, our family requests privacy and we beg of you to reach out to the ones you love."
Sweeten’s twin brother, Sullivan, played Michael Barone on the aforementioned hit CBS sitcom; while their sister Madylin portrayed Ally Barone.
The long-running hit series featured Ray Romano as their onscreen father.
"At this time I would like to encourage everyone to reach out to the ones you love," Madylin Sweeten wrote on her Facebook page yesterday. "Let them have no doubt of what they mean to you."
